The Match Report

The first real chance of the first half came in the 21st minute for Lazio: a through ball sent Visentin through on goal against Gilardi, but the Biancocelesti forward was denied by the Como Women goalkeeper, who made the save to keep her side in the game. In the 24th minute, former Lazio player Simonetti tried her luck with a low shot from the edge of the box. Her powerful effort was deflected behind by the Lazio defence for a corner. In the 27th minute, Lazio came close to taking the lead through Sciabica, who attempted a low diagonal shot from the right-hand side of the box. Her effort beat Gilardi but struck the inside of the far post, denying the hosts the opening goal. Just a minute later, the Biancocelesti threatened again as Zanoli capitalised on a misplaced pass on the left and attempted to catch Gilardi off her line with a long-range lob. However, the Como Women goalkeeper remained alert and was not caught out. The first half therefore ended goalless at 0-0.

At the start of the second half, in the 52nd minute, Como Women immediately threatened through Nielsen, who unleashed a diagonal effort from the right-hand side of the penalty area. The Lazio goalkeeper produced an outstanding save on the goal line, denying the Danish forward her second league goal of the season and preventing the visitors from taking the lead. In the 54th minute, Como Women found the net through Nischler following a free-kick, but the goal was ruled out for offside against the Como captain. The decision was confirmed after the referee reviewed the incident on the pitchside monitor, and the score remained 0-0. In the 67th minute, the Lariane threatened again. Bergersen delivered a cross from the left, and Nischler rose highest to meet it with a header, but she was unable to hit the target. Three minutes later, in the 70th minute, Tramezzani’s side came close to breaking the deadlock once more from a corner. This time, Nielsen met the delivery with a header, but her effort also went wide. In the 72nd minute, Lazio created their first chance of the second half. Substitute Holstrom attempted to surprise the Como Women defence with a curling left-footed shot, but the ball sailed over the crossbar. In the 83rd minute, Como Women had a golden opportunity to take the lead. Simonetti crossed from the left and found Nischler in the middle of the box, one-on-one with Mukasa, but the forward failed to make contact with the ball as she attempted a first-time finish. In the closing stages, the Lariane continued to push for a winner and came close again from a free-kick. Nischler rose to meet the delivery with a header, forcing Mukasa into a decisive save. The goalkeeper parried the ball onto the post, keeping Lazio level and preserving the draw.

After a second half full of chances, the match ended 0-0. Como Women return home with a point, taking their tally to five points in the league standings. Paolo Tramezzani’s side will now turn their attention to their next fixture, when they host Milan at the “Mino Favini” stadium in Meda on Sunday, 1 November, at 6:00 pm.
