"This match was really frustrating because I feel like this is one of the matches where we really got to click and you really got to see us move the ball around. There were really moments and pockets of time where we were playing beautiful football. We’ve just struggled to get the ball in the back of the net and create things creatively up top, and I know we have it in us. I think we just need to continue to keep working hard, work on this during training, and just push that last percent of effort.
I think it just has to do with us collectively working together, working hard, uplifting each other, and giving each other positive reinforcement. I think we have it—we have the talent, we have the effort. It’s just putting those two pieces together, and the second we connect those, I feel like it could be magic for us".

“The game was ours. The girls were excellent in organizing themselves in the defensive phase: we played on reference points, pressed them high, and constantly broke their lines with our recovery runs. They played a really beautiful match and truly surprised me in a positive way. We created chances in both the first half and the second half. If you look at the course of the game, it’s clear the 90 minutes had different phases, but we always managed to get into dangerous positions in different ways: through build-up play, combination play, counterattacks, and also by intercepting many balls and disrupting their passing lines, which is something they usually rely on and often use to dominate their opponents.
We did well in every aspect. It’s clear that today we also deserved to score a few goals, but this is the path we’re on, and it’s a very good one. Once again today, the girls showed that, against any opponent, they try to play the football we work on in training and that they see themselves in. It’s just a shame about the result, but we are stronger than that: we don’t need the result to confirm how good these players are.
Even those who have played a bit less are showing that, whenever they are called upon, they can do their part. That’s a great message they send to themselves, to the team, and to me as well. They really enjoy being together. And then seeing Giulia Rizzon’s attitude today—our captain, the first on the bench to support the players on the pitch: yes, if you win you take the result home, but if we look at that attitude, Giulia’s attitude—and I told her as well—I go home feeling as if I had earned six points.
Because these are the things, the foundations, the building blocks to be able to think about achieving something truly special in the future, something we haven’t done before.”
