Linnéa Borbye’s words

On the match: “I don’t think it was a great game. It’s often like that when you play your first official match. We struggled a little in the first half, but I think we managed to adjust. They didn’t have many big chances in the second half and we kept building. We got better in the duels and started making more passes. I think we can build on this game. Of course, there are always some nerves and emotions, but it’s okay, we’re happy with the draw. I think it was a fair result.”

On her first goal for Como Women: “Honestly, I just thought, ‘I’m going to shoot now.’ Before the game, on the bus on the way to the stadium, I was thinking that I would finally go into the box for corners, because at my old club I always stayed back. Now I have to show that I can score, and I did. It feels amazing to show that I can also be dangerous in these situations.”

Stefano Grilli’s comments

On Gilardi’s return to action: “It’s definitely very positive. As you saw, we also changed a few things: we play much higher up the pitch, so she is, so to speak, forced to work harder. That’s absolutely fine; we have to make sure we manage her workload as much as possible during the week, and then in the match she gives us a great deal of help. Selena Babb? She has settled in really well; it feels like she has been with us for years. She has come in with the aim of raising the level of our goalkeeping department even further.”

On the result and the team’s performance: “We had already spoken about it with the coach, and today’s indication is that Como Women have a team this season with its own identity, which you can already see from the very first minutes, including in terms of character. We knew that and it didn’t surprise us: we’re here, and we’ll compete with everyone.”
