The Women's Cup, comments from Stefano Sottili
At the end of the prestigious victory against Atlético Madrid in The Women’s Cup, Como Women’s head coach Stefano Sottili shared his thoughts on the match and the upcoming season.
On the match: “The most positive aspect of the game was the competitive intensity. After an initial phase of adjustment, the tempo increased and the level of play was very high. Atlético Madrid is a team with seven internationals in the squad, great technical quality, and a playing philosophy typical of the best Spanish teams. We still managed to concede very little, and that’s an encouraging sign.”
On participating in The Women’s Cup: “The level of our three opponents speaks for itself, and it was truly an honor for us to be part of this tournament. It’s just a pity about the high temperatures, which certainly had an impact, although that can’t be used as an excuse.”
On seasonal objectives: “Our goals remain clear: first and foremost, securing safety. Then, once that’s achieved, we’ll give everything we’ve got to fight for a spot in the top positions. But we must remain realistic. There are also two additional competitions — the Coppa Italia and the new Serie A Women's Cup — which are important challenges we aim to honor to the fullest.”
