Serie A Women Athora, Como Women-Lazio ends 1-2

The match between Como Women and Lazio, valid for the opening round of the Serie A Women Athora, ended 1-2 at the “Ferruccio” Stadium in Seregno.
The game began at a lively pace from both sides. In the opening minutes, it was Lazio who threatened first: in the 4th minute, Simonetti tried to curl a shot from the edge of the area, but her effort went just over Gilardi’s crossbar. In the 16th minute, following a corner kick, Grassadonia’s side created another dangerous chance with Mesjasz, whose close-range header was denied by a solid save from Gilardi.
At the 20-minute mark, Nischler came close to scoring from a free kick, forcing Lazio goalkeeper Durante into a sharp save. On the half-hour, Como Women had their clearest chance of the first half: Nischler led a quick counterattack and played a perfectly timed through ball to Lehmann. The Swiss forward found herself one-on-one with Durante, but the Lazio shot-stopper came out on top, deflecting the shot for a corner. The first half ended goalless.
After the break, Como Women continued to press, again creating danger through a Nischler free kick in the 61st minute, though her shot was too central to trouble Durante.
It was Lazio who eventually broke the deadlock in the 68th minute: a precise cross from the left by Oliviero found Le Bihan, who rose above the defense to head home and give the visitors the lead.
The Biancoceleste doubled their advantage in the 80th minute, this time with Piemonte heading in from a Le Bihan assist.
Despite trailing by two, Como Women did not give up. In the 90th minute, they pulled one back through Bernardi, who scored her first Serie A goal with a first-time low strike after Pavan recovered possession on the right and delivered a well-placed low cross into the box.
In stoppage time, Sottili’s team pushed forward with intensity in search of an equalizer, but Lazio’s defense held firm, and the match ended 2-1 in favor of the visitors.
Como Women will be back in action on Saturday, October 11 at 3:00 PM at the “La Marmora” Stadium in Biella, where they will face Juventus in the second round of the league.
