In the match valid for the fifteenth round of the Serie A Women Athora between Genoa and Como Women, Paolo Tramezzani’s side claimed a narrow away victory at “La Sciorba” in Genoa thanks to a goal from Liucija Vaitukaityte.

First Half

The first chance of the match came as early as the 1st minute: Tramezzani’s players broke quickly on the counter with Berisha, who forced Forcinella into a timely intervention between the posts. In the 4th minute, Berisha was dangerous again, cutting in from the right and firing a shot that Forcinella parried away for a corner.

In the 12th minute, Genoa appealed to the referee and requested an FVS review for a possible penalty after a challenge by Gilardi on Monterubbiano. However, after checking the monitor, the referee deemed the intervention fair and allowed play to continue.

Como Women took the lead in the 24th minute: from a corner kick, Vaitukaityte rose highest, beating the Rossoblù defense with a header to make it 1–0 for the Larian side. It was the Lithuanian midfielder’s first goal in a Como Women shirt. The visitors nearly doubled their advantage in the 37th minute, once again from a corner and once again through Vaitukaityte, whose header forced Forcinella into a two-step save.

Genoa threatened again in the 40th minute through Bahr, who shot from the right side of the box, but her effort did not trouble Gilardi. The first half ended with Como Women holding a narrow lead.

Second Half

The second half began with an aggressive Genoa. In the 51st minute, the hosts came very close to equalizing on the counterattack: Bahr found herself one-on-one with Gilardi, but the Como goalkeeper stood firm and denied the equalizer. Moments later, Monterubbiano tried her luck from the edge of the area with a low shot that failed to trouble the visiting keeper.

At the other end, Como Women nearly made it two. Berisha unleashed a powerful left-footed strike from 25 meters, and Forcinella produced a brilliant save, tipping the ball onto the crossbar. The rebound fell to Chidiac, who attempted another left-footed effort from the edge of the box, but this time Forcinella gathered comfortably.

In the 78th minute, Como Women came close again through Rizzon, who met a corner with a first-time effort from the right side of the area, narrowly missing the target. Berisha tried once more from distance in the 86th minute, but her shot flew well wide.

In the closing stages, Genoa pushed forward in search of an equalizer, creating a few promising situations without finding the decisive touch. Right at the death, however, Como Women had the chance to seal the match: Chidiac went one-on-one with the Genoa goalkeeper, who made a good save to keep the scoreline unchanged.

The match ended with Como Women securing their second consecutive victory, moving up to 23 points in the standings.

After the international break, the Larian side’s next league fixture will be on Sunday, March 15 at 12:30 pm against Ternana at the Ferruccio Stadium in Seregno.
