Match report

The first chance of the match came in the 4th minute for the home side. Following a corner, Zamboni collected the ball on the edge of the box, created some space with a feint and unleashed a powerful effort that narrowly missed the post. In the 21st minute, Milan threatened for the first time through Park, who tried her luck from the edge of the penalty area, but her effort sailed over the crossbar. Five minutes later, Como Women responded through Nischler, who attempted a right-footed shot from distance. However, the effort was weak and straight at Estevez, who dealt with it comfortably. In the 42nd minute, the Lariane came close to taking the lead. Nischler capitalised on an error by Soffia and, with the Milan defence exposed, found herself with space on the edge of the box. Her attempted chip, however, narrowly missed the target. In first-half stoppage time, Milan looked for a goal through Nevado, who took a free kick from 25 metres, but her effort failed to find the target. After an evenly balanced first half, with chances at both ends, the two teams went into the break level at 0-0.

Como Women started the second half on the front foot. Following a corner, Simonetti delivered a cross-shot from the left, forcing Estevez to tip the ball over the crossbar for another corner. In the 54th minute, Como Women finally broke the deadlock. Simonetti did well to win possession on the edge of the box before setting up Bernardi. The Como Women forward beat her marker with a clever feint, wrong-footing the Rossoneri defence, before firing a precise right-footed shot into the bottom-right corner, leaving Estevez with no chance. Bernardi threatened again in the 59th minute, receiving the ball on the right-hand side of the box before attempting a low shot. Her effort was straight at Estevez, who saved comfortably. In the 65th minute, Milan responded through Koivisto, who tried her luck from distance. The shot was central and Gilardi gathered the ball without difficulty. In the 71st minute, Como Women came close to doubling their lead through substitute Nielsen. The forward broke quickly on the counter-attack and fired a low shot from the left, aiming for the near post, but Estevez got down well to turn the ball behind for a corner. In the 80th minute, Milan came agonisingly close to equalising. From a wide position on the edge of the box, Nevado unleashed a powerful right-footed effort that crashed against the junction of the crossbar and post. The Rossoneri continued to push forward in stoppage time. Nevado turned and shot from around the penalty spot, but her effort went over the crossbar. Shortly afterwards, Grimshaw tried her luck with a header, but failed to hit the target. At the final whistle, Como Women could celebrate a 1-0 victory over Milan, secured by Bernardi’s 54th-minute goal. An important result that takes the Lariane to eight points in the league table.

The next fixture for Paolo Tramezzani’s side is scheduled for Sunday, 8 November, at 12:30 pm, when Como Women travel to face Parma Calcio Women at the “Il Noce” Stadium in Noceto (PR).
