Serie A Women Athora, Statements ahead of Como Women-Milan
Ahead of the clash against Milan, scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, November 1, at 6:00 PM at the “Mino Favini” Stadium in Meda, and valid for the fifth matchday of the Serie A Women Athora, Como Women assistant coach Davide Borin spoke about the upcoming match against the Rossonere.
On the work carried out during the week: “The girls are going through a process of growth and consistently show their willingness and readiness to contribute. They are a group that is great to work with, and one from whom we can demand a lot, as we do every day in training. We have tried to analyse Milan as thoroughly as possible, having already faced them in the Women's Cup. We hope to be fully prepared for tomorrow's match: the overall feeling is positive and we are confident. We want to be determined and ready to give everything in order to try to claim all three points.”
On the importance of the team's approach to the match: “We are coming off two games in which we showed some good things. Against Fiorentina, there were spells in the second half when we played really well, while against Lazio we can say that we almost dominated the second half. We need to build on these performances and the determination we showed, while also working on the areas we have identified for improvement. We need to fine-tune certain aspects, knowing that we have the quality to do better. Our attitude will certainly be crucial. We must take to the pitch determined to be the protagonists and make things happen from the very first minute, rather than waiting for things to change or for the second half to arrive. Between the Women's Cup and the league, we have faced different opponents, but all of them have been quality sides, and we have shown that we can compete and go toe-to-toe with anyone.”
On the match against Milan: “I certainly expect a closely contested game. However, our objective is always to win. Milan have been following a well-established path for several years under their current coach, who has clear ideas and well-defined playing principles. We therefore expect a game similar to the one we played in August. We want to get off to a good start, showing determination and courage, while also accepting that mistakes may happen. The important thing will be to play proactively and show courage in both phases of the game, in possession and out of possession. Milan are a good team, with excellent individual players and a well-prepared coach, but our objective remains to win, as it does in every match. We can also take confidence from keeping a clean sheet in Sunday's game against Lazio. That is certainly a positive aspect, and one we want to build on as we continue to grow and improve.”
