Stefano Sottili’s analysis

On the match: “It was a very hard-fought game. In the first half we played football of a very high level, putting a strong team like Milan under pressure. In the second half the match became more balanced and the clearest chances were theirs, especially that very clean header. Our opportunities instead came from specific episodes: the first missed penalty and then the counterattack in open field that led to the second penalty. Overall, it seemed to me a match of very high quality, and I believe that compared to recent years the level of Serie A has risen significantly, thanks especially to the mid-table teams. The FVS? It’s a system that is growing and improving, but inevitably there are still situations that require time (and clear camera angles) to be analysed precisely.”

On the team’s growth and the third consecutive win: “Three consecutive victories represent an important result, the fruit of the work and balance the girls have found in managing the different moments of matches, both positive and negative. This shows how well they work together and how eager they are to improve week after week. We’ve beaten teams like Juventus and Milan, but we must continue to live day by day, enjoying the performances and the results that come. What the future holds, we will see later. I want to thank all the players and congratulate them: whether they start or come off the bench, they always give their maximum. Even today, the substitutes contributed in a significant way to the team’s win.”

Stefano Grilli, goalkeepers’ coach, also spoke after the match: “This third consecutive win shows the consistency in performances and results that the coach asks of the team. Today, against a very strong opponent, the girls played with joy and enthusiasm, just as he requested. I want to give special praise to those who come off the bench: they often manage to add that extra spark that changes the match, as happened again today. Now we prepare for our next home match against Roma, an extremely strong opponent and probably one of the favourites to win the league. We will approach the game with respect, but also with full awareness of our qualities. Finally, a big compliment to Nischler: taking that second penalty in such a manner shows great character and determination.”

Agnete Marcussen’s comments

“This victory highlights the great moment we are experiencing and the growth of our group. We played an important match, with a lot of sacrifice but, above all, enjoying ourselves. Compared to last season we are more consistent, even in maintaining a high level of play. And now I want to enjoy this position in the standings!”
