Serie A Women's Cup, Como Women-Genoa: the match

The match between Como Women and Genoa, valid for the second matchday of the Serie A Women’s Cup, ended 1-1 at the Ferruccio Stadium in Seregno.
Stefano Sottili’s side started with great intensity, creating numerous goal-scoring opportunities in the first 45 minutes. Kramzar was immediately dangerous with two early chances, followed by Pavan, Madsen, and Kerr, who all came close to scoring but were denied either by inaccuracy or by Genoa goalkeeper Forcinella's sharp interventions. Genoa only managed to venture into Como’s half in the 41st minute, with a chance from a set piece. The deserved breakthrough for Como came just before the break: in the 45th minute, Madsen scored her first goal in a Como shirt with a low strike from outside the box that beat the Genoa keeper at the near post.
In the second half, Madsen threatened again in the 55th minute with a left-footed shot from the edge of the area that narrowly missed the target. At the 63rd minute, Kerr tried her luck with a right-footed effort on an assist from Kramzar, but failed to hit the target. Como kept pushing, with Lehmann coming off the bench and almost scoring immediately with a turn inside the box at the 64th minute. She tried again in the 75th minute with a shot from a tight angle, following a pass from Petzelberger. Despite the many chances created, Como failed to put the game to bed, allowing Genoa to stay alive in the match.
In the 83rd minute, Genoa hit the crossbar through Vigilucci, and just three minutes later found the equalizer with Bargi, who capitalized on a defensive lapse. In stoppage time, Como had a golden chance to snatch the win with Howard, but her shot hit the left post, denying the hosts all three points.
The match ended 1-1, with Como and Genoa both moving to one point in Group B. Next up for Sottili’s side is a clash against Inter on Sunday, September 14 at 12:30, at the Arena Civica in Milan, for Matchday 3 of the Serie A Women’s Cup.
