Ahead of Sassuolo vs Como Women: Stefano Sottili's Pre-Match Statements
In the third round of Serie A Women Athora, Como Women will visit Sassuolo at the Stadio Enzo Ricci, with kick-off scheduled for 12:30 PM tomorrow, Saturday, October 18.
On the eve of the match, head coach Stefano Sottili shared his thoughts on the upcoming clash against the Neroverdi.
On the importance of consistency in attitude and performance: "I hope the team goes into the Sassuolo match with greater self-confidence, but without falling into arrogance, following the win against Juventus. We played two good games: against Lazio, we deserved more for what we created, while against Juve, we may have taken more than we actually produced in terms of chances. Tomorrow's match is an important test in terms of maturity. We need to show awareness and the desire to build on our progress, but without losing humility. To me, that is true maturity.
The win over Juve should be a boost to keep moving in the right direction. Regardless of the opponent, I expect the girls to maintain the same attitude: carefree but focused. We need to confirm what we’ve shown so far, aiming for a solid performance backed by a positive result. I believe that results are often the consequence of performances, and in a league that is proving to be increasingly balanced and competitive, this is even more true. I want to see continuity in our play and, as a result, in our results."
Analysis of the opponent and focus on the match: "They're a changed team, not only in terms of coaching staff but also in some of their key players. This year, they’re showing great organization, which allowed them to earn a draw against Juventus and put in a strong performance against Parma, despite losing due to two set-piece situations. It will be a different kind of match compared to the past, and we will need to face it with great focus and determination."
