Ahead of Ternana–Como Women: Stefano Sottili’s pre-match words

After their home victory against Genoa, Como Women are preparing to face Ternana in the fifth round of the Serie A Women Athora. The match is scheduled for Sunday, November 9, at 12:30 p.m. at the Moreno Gubbiotti Stadium in Narni.

On the eve of the game, Stefano Sottili spoke about the team’s current form, the areas they have worked on during the week, and the challenges awaiting the Lariane on Umbrian soil.

“The win against Genoa was important, not only for morale but also for many other reasons,” said Sottili. “It came right after the international break, with many players away and little time to train together, but the team responded with the right attitude. We interpreted the game well, and performances like that often lead to positive results. Now, however, we need consistency—only in that way can we confirm our progress.”

“After our second goal, we had a bit of a drop, and the match reopened with a goal we could have easily avoided. From that point on, some anxiety crept in, and we took too many risks in the last fifteen minutes—more than during the rest of the match. It’s something we reflected on and worked on this week: we analyzed the causes and, above all, how to react if a similar situation happens again.”

“We’ll be facing a Ternana side eager to end their negative streak, and they’ll bring great competitive intensity. The pitch we’ll be playing on is one of the narrowest in Serie A, so we’ll need to quickly read the spaces and adapt to different situations. But above all, we’ll need intensity—we must be ready to match them in terms of physical and mental aggression.”
