Coppa Italia Women, The pre-match words ahead of Ternana vs Como Women

On the eve of the Coppa Italia Round of 16 match against Ternana Women, scheduled for tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at the Moreno Gubbiotti Stadium in Narni (TR), head coach Stefano Sottili spoke to preview the fixture.

“We know very well that a knockout match against Ternana awaits us. This is an elimination competition and, as such, there is only one possible approach: our objective is to get through to the next round. We always prepare matches to win; there is no other way to approach them. Of course, football is played by two teams: if you don’t win because the opponent proves to be better, that’s a different matter, but this is something we must never forget.

We know it will be a difficult match. Ternana have grown a lot compared to when we faced them in the league: they have recovered some key players who were previously injured, they now have more options, and this has raised the overall level of the squad available to the coach. Their recent performances speak for themselves: after our match, they won away at Sassuolo, drew with Parma and lost while staying competitive against Fiorentina and Roma, two teams of great quality. Just looking at these results is enough to understand that it will be a hard-fought contest, one in which we will need to stay fully focused from start to finish, otherwise we risk being knocked out.

As for the possibility of seeing some players who have had more limited playing time in the league, for some of them there will be an opportunity to increase their minutes. I am confident they will make the most of it, because they all have the qualities to do so.”
