The match between Sassuolo and Como Women, valid for the third matchday of the Serie A Women Athora, ended 1–0. At the Enzo Ricci Stadium in Sassuolo, Alessandro Spugna’s side came out on top thanks to a goal from Eto in the 12th minute.

Como Women started the match with intensity and immediately created a threat in the first minute, as Lehmann tried a low right-footed shot that was comfortably saved by Durand. Sassuolo responded right away in the second minute with a low effort from Eto on the edge of the box, but it posed no danger for Gilardi.

The first real chance of the game came in the 11th minute, again for Sassuolo: Eto struck first-time, forcing a fine save from Gilardi who deflected it for a corner. From the resulting set piece, it was once again Eto — this time with a header from a Clelland cross — who found the back of the net, putting the home side ahead.

Como Women reacted with composure, but Sassuolo continued to press. In the 23rd minute, Eto broke down the right and delivered a cross to Hagemann, whose shot was once more well saved by Gilardi and pushed out for a corner. On the ensuing play, Santoro attempted a shot toward the far post, but couldn't double the lead.

At the 32nd minute, Como Women created a dangerous chance: Madsen delivered a threatening ball into the box, Durand parried it, and in the resulting scramble, Kramzar tried to find the net, but the play was stopped for an attacking foul.

Just a minute later, in the 33rd, Como Women came close to equalizing. Nischler took a free-kick from the edge of the area, and her well-placed right-footed shot went just wide of the post to Durand’s left.

At the 35th minute, another great opportunity for the Larian side: Lehmann delivered a perfect corner kick for Pavan, who beat everyone in the air but couldn’t direct her header on target.

In the final minutes of the first half, Como Women kept pushing forward, trying their luck from distance with efforts from Nischler and Kramzar, but were unable to find the net.

The second half began with a change for Como Women, as Chidiac came on in place of Madsen. The first chance after the break, however, fell to Sassuolo: in the 47th minute, Missipo struck first-time from inside the box, but her effort went just wide.

Como Women quickly responded in the 49th minute with a great opportunity for Marcussen, who tried a left-footed volley from the edge of the area — the ball narrowly cleared the crossbar.

Sassuolo continued to press, and in the 52nd minute Eto attempted to surprise Gilardi with a low shot at the near post from the left. The Como goalkeeper, however, was alert and turned it away for a corner. Eto remained dangerous and, two minutes later, tried her luck again from the edge of the box — Gilardi once more produced a fine diving save to deny her.

Como Women stayed in the game and, in the 56th minute, Pavan took a shot from around 25 meters out, but it went over the bar.

In the 59th minute, Sassuolo came close to doubling their lead: from a free kick, Caiazzo connected with a header that crashed against the crossbar.

Como Women created another promising chance in the 65th minute: Kramzar played a smart ball into the area for Bernardi, who turned and shot just wide of the post. Three minutes later, Nischler forced Durand into a save with a well-struck effort that was deflected for a corner.

At the 72nd minute, Kramzar dribbled past a couple of opponents and tried a low shot from the edge of the area, but Durand gathered it without trouble.

In the final stages, Como Women kept pushing in search of an equalizer. In the 84th minute, Szabò drove down the left flank and delivered a good cross into the area for Kerr, whose volley lacked power and was easily saved by Durand.

In stoppage time, a key moment sparked controversy: coach Stefano Sottili called for the use of the Video Assistant Referee (FVS) for a potential handball inside the Sassuolo penalty area. After reviewing the footage on the pitch-side monitor, referee opted not to award the penalty — a decision that sparked debate.

The match ended with Sassuolo claiming a 1–0 win over Como Women.

The Larians’ next league fixture will take place on Saturday, November 1 at 6:00 PM, when they face Genoa at the Stadio Ferruccio in Seregno.
