Valery Vigilucci’s words

“These are the kind of games that have helped us understand each other better as a group, especially since we have quite a few new players. They have brought us closer together on the pitch and helped us understand each other better. They have also given us the confidence that we are a technical team and, little by little, we are becoming more confident in our abilities. We came together as a group and, in a way, this game also helped us realise our strength, including tactically. Maybe there was a little bit of fear at the beginning because it was our first derby, but I think this match showed what we can really do, even when playing with fewer players.

The game leaves us with confidence in our technical and tactical abilities. We are a great group, both on and off the pitch. Our home crowd supported us from the very beginning, and all the young girls who came to the game gave us an extra boost of energy, even during the difficult moments at the start. This pitch has to become our strength and, I think, throughout the season we will show the other teams what we are capable of.”

David Borin’s comments

“We are delighted because it was a difficult game. We know the quality of our opponents and we already knew them beforehand; we worked on this game throughout the week and we are happy with the result, but above all with the performance, which we had already shown against both Milan and Juventus. We continued to work calmly and today we got the result as well, after going behind first. We did a great job of getting the game back on track, which is why we are happy and proud to have such a special group with this kind of character.”

About The Serie A Women’s Cup campaign and the season’s objectives: “We are heading into the start of the league in good shape; now we have some time to catch our breath. We go into it with confidence and even more belief in our abilities, because we already had that belief after the previous two performances. We know we are a strong team and that we have a united group. When the results also come after good performances, it brings even more satisfaction and, as a result, we work even better during the week. We are going to continue along this path, which is the one we set out at the beginning of the season and have always followed. The objective this season is to build on the foundations we have created, continuing along this path and trying to improve player by player. The whole group will benefit from that, allowing each player to get the best out of herself. During the week, the girls give everything in every minute and every hour of training, making themselves available and looking to improve as much as possible. Today we once again showed that, even when we were down to ten players, we had character and quality.”
