Como Women-Fiorentina, post-match statements

Stefano Sottili’s Analysis
“Fiorentina played better than us and deserved the win, as they created more goal-scoring opportunities. It is disappointing because two of the three goals were practically gifted by us, and in that respect we could certainly have done better. That said, we must acknowledge that they were superior over the course of the match.
From a technical standpoint, in the first half the players with the most quality delivered a performance below their potential. We could have managed possession better and, as a result, allowed our defensive line to breathe a little more. Despite everything, we went into the break level. The regret is that in the second half we could have done more and, above all, not made things easier for Fiorentina, because a team of that quality does not need gifts. We should not have smoothed their path to the final result.”
On the upcoming fixtures: “What we have achieved so far cannot be taken away from us, but we must realise that what really matters is what we do from now on. With the Coppa Italia and the Christmas break coming up, we will try to recover some players, also with a view to progressing in the competition, which remains one of our objectives.”
Alexandra Chidiac’s Words
“Today we made more than one mistake and certainly allowed Fiorentina too much possession. They are a team that manages the game very well, and this led us to concede too many chances. We go home aware that there is still a lot to improve: defeats are part of this sport, but we are a strong group and what we have done so far proves that. We will start again from this match to come back stronger.”
On her first goal in a Como Women shirt: “During the week we worked on several corner-kick routines in training. I am happy to have scored and I hope this will be the first of many more.”
