Post-match statements from Como Women–Inter
These were the words of Como Women head coach Stefano Sottili in the post-match press conference:
“There is great disappointment at not having taken home a positive result, because the girls’ performance was truly important. We went toe to toe with a team that finished second last season, is second again this year, and is in excellent form. That does not take anything away from the value of our display, which was also enhanced by goals of very high quality. Overall, I think it was an enjoyable match for those watching, but for us there is huge regret at coming away with nothing after a performance of this level. With displays like this, we will rarely lose matches.”
On the goal conceded in stoppage time: “Beyond Polli’s excellent piece of play, it’s clear that we could and should have managed that situation better. There are moments we will work on during the week to improve, just as we could have made better use of some counterattacks, especially in the first half, when in a few situations we didn’t even manage to get a shot away. The disappointment remains, especially for the players, because even after conceding two minutes from the end of stoppage time, we still had two more balls in the penalty area that could have allowed us to equalize. We will work on those episodes that we didn’t handle well during the match, so that performances like this can also be accompanied by positive results.”
On Kramzar: “With Zara, the only thing that surprised me was that she hadn’t scored until now. She is a strong player with great technical and physical qualities, so it’s right to expect important things from her, because they are within her abilities. When you have expectations of certain players, it’s because you know what they are capable of delivering.”
