From a free kick situation, Pellegrino Cimò delivered a dangerous ball into the box where Pirone managed to flick a header, missing the near post by just a few inches with Gilardi guarding the Como goal.
Around the half-hour mark, the visitors threatened again with a curling shot from distance by Regazzoli, attempting to surprise the Como goalkeeper.
Como Women responded in the 35th minute with their first real chance of the match. From a corner kick, Howard managed to get a right-footed touch in the crowded six-yard box, but Schroffenegger reacted well and pushed the ball away for another corner. Moments later, the home side came close again: this time Pavan tried her luck from the edge of the area with a curling right-footed shot, but the Ternana goalkeeper was once again alert and made the save.
In the 44th minute came the final key moment of the first half. Ternana found the back of the net through Pellegrino Cimò, who slotted a low shot past Gilardi in a one-on-one situation, but the goal was ruled out for offside. The teams therefore headed into halftime with the score still 0–0.
The first opportunity of the second half arrived in the 56th minute for Ternana, who earned a free kick from the edge of the box. Pirone stepped up to take it, but her effort went over the crossbar.
Como Women created their first chance of the second half in the 69th minute: Cecotti broke down the left flank and delivered an inswinging cross toward Nischler, whose header, however, failed to hit the target.
In the 82nd minute the hosts had a big opportunity to take the lead. Once again Cecotti made a strong run down the left and crossed into the penalty area. The defense cleared the ball, but it fell to Bernardi near the penalty spot; her shot was deflected by the Umbrian defense and went out for a corner kick.
In the closing moments Como Women were reduced to ten players. During stoppage time, Marcussen received her second yellow card for a foul on Pirone and was consequently sent off. The match therefore ended 0–0, with one point for each side.
The next fixture for the Lariane will be on Sunday, March 22, when Como Women, coached by Paolo Tramezzani, will face AC Milan Women away from home at 6:00 PM.
