Roma vs Como Women: Paolo Tramezzani’s pre-match statements
After the 0-0 away draw against AC Milan, Como Women are preparing to face league leaders Roma. The match, valid for the 18th round of the Serie A Women Athora, is scheduled for tomorrow at 6:00 PM at the “Tre Fontane” Stadium in Rome. Head coach Paolo Tramezzani previewed the game.
On the week of training and the team’s condition: “We’ve worked well. Compared to previous breaks, when several players were away on international duty, this time we had a full squad available. We had the chance to help some players recover physically after minor issues in recent weeks. I’m confident we’ll go into the match in excellent condition, and that’s very important for me.”
On the unbeaten run and the team’s defensive solidity: “It’s a stat that makes us happy. Even if it mainly concerns the defense and the goalkeeper, I believe it’s something the whole team shares. It’s great to see how the group works and applies itself out of possession: the desire to defend together, to win the ball back, to press the opponent. Of course, we also know there are other aspects we can improve, and we’re working on them calmly and with confidence. We’re trying to play more, keep possession more, and become more confident in managing the game.”
On the match against Roma and the value of the opposition: “We prepare every match in the same way, always showing great respect to all opponents, regardless of their quality, level, or position in the table. That said, Roma are an example to follow because of the excellent work they’ve done in women’s football in recent years. Tomorrow we’ll face the best team, so it will be interesting to understand the gap between us and where we can improve to close it—not only in terms of the standings. It’s a match to be experienced as a privilege: these are the best games, because you face the strongest teams, and we must approach it with courage and without fear. This awareness must give us confidence. When I talk about playing with freedom, I’m referring to players who take things seriously. I expect another strong performance tomorrow, as we’ve shown in recent matches.”
On the standings and the team’s journey so far: “When I look at the table today, I see that these players have had a great season so far, just four points behind teams that were built for important objectives. We’re not here by chance: they’ve earned every single point so far. It’s not about having nothing to lose, but about having a lot to gain.”
