Agnete Nielsen’s comments

“We knew it would be a difficult game, especially coming here to play. The pitch dimensions are different from what we are used to, but it was a real battle. I think this shows that we are a united team, that we fight for each other, both on and off the pitch. The people supporting us from outside the pitch also give us so much energy.

We didn’t have full control of the game for all 90 minutes, but sometimes football is like that. We managed the difficult moments and then took our chances. I think it was a well-deserved victory.

It’s always nice to score. We simply need to score the goals we need. It’s nice to start the season with a goal, and I’m also happy for Veronica Bernardi. Now we can move forward, and we just have to keep working and enjoy the moment.”

Paolo Tramezzani’s statements

“Every day we spend a lot of time together, and I have seen the spirit and the soul of this team, day after day, on the pitch, during training, in every exercise and in every moment we share. Today I think we faced a good team in a difficult stadium, especially considering that it was the first game. I’m sure, though, that we did a lot of positive things. We know that this is the path we have to follow and that we are only at the beginning. We still have many metres and kilometres to cover, but it’s positive to start by picking up points.

Agnete is a very good example of the spirit of this team. You can see how she helped the team in a difficult moment. That is what is important for us. We know how important it is to play with the ball, but also how important it is for everyone to be connected. As I said, we spend a lot of time together. When we have the ball, all the forwards and midfielders are involved; when we don’t have it, all the players contribute defensively. Agnete is a very good example of that. She worked very well during pre-season, and I’m happy that we won the first game.”
