Serie A Women’s Cup, pre-match statements ahead of Como Women-Como 1907

Como Women are preparing to face the third and final matchday of the Serie A Women’s Cup. Tomorrow at 12:30, Paolo Tramezzani’s team will face Como 1907 in the derby at the “Mino Favini” Stadium in Meda, in what will be Como Women’s first match of the season at their new home, in front of their supporters.

Ahead of the match, which is part of Group C of the competition, the head coach spoke about the team’s first two games of the season, the excitement of returning to play in front of the fans, and the importance of approaching the derby while maintaining the team’s identity.

“It’s something I really miss, the fans, because that’s what I’m used to. Of course, the atmosphere with the supporters is better and more complete, and I believe the girls know how to handle these things too, because they bring extra emotions and extra noise. But their minds have to remain clear, especially when it comes to the performance we need to deliver. These are important games for us to continue developing our identity, which is very clear and one that the girls recognise themselves in. We just need to try to take another small step forward.”

On the week of preparation and the team’s attitude:
“The girls have trained well. As always, there is a great deal of serenity and a fantastic atmosphere within the group, so this is helping us approach this game in the same way as all the previous ones. We are aware that preparing for matches with this level of calm, given what the girls give on the pitch, is the right path, and we want to strengthen it.”

On the excitement of experiencing the first women’s Como derby:
“I’ve experienced quite a few derbies as both a player and a coach, and I know that derbies are beautiful, special and unique. Of course, there is a greater emotional involvement, but emotions should not take over in any match. We care about this game just as much as we care about all the others. Above all, I don’t want the team to lose its identity. We know that many elements will have to be present during the game, including managing the different moments of the match, but there is also the awareness and desire to finish another game feeling satisfied.”
