Serie A Women Athora, Paolo Tramezzani’s pre-match statements ahead of Ternana Women-Como Women
Como Women are ready to make their debut in the 2026/27 Serie A Women Athora season. Tomorrow at 12:30 pm, Paolo Tramezzani’s side will face Ternana Women at the “Moreno Gubbiotti” Stadium in Narni on Matchday 1. Ahead of the game, these are the coach’s thoughts.
“There is a great desire to get back to playing in the league, as we started our preparation and the new season more than two months ago. They have been two really positive months, during which we have worked hard and which have allowed us to become the team we are today: a team that is eager to compete and take to the pitch. We have had a very good pre-season, particularly in terms of the work we have put in, and it has brought us to where we are today as a real team.”
On the confidence gained during the Serie A Women’s Cup: “Looking back at the first three competitive games we played, against three very good teams, the fact that we always came away with our heads held high and were able to compete on equal terms with both the matches and our opponents has certainly given us greater confidence. We were able to transfer into matches what we had worked on during the previous weeks in training, and this is often a process that requires time and patience, whereas in our case it happened very naturally. All the games, both the two away matches against Milan and Juventus and the final game against Como 1907, gave us important answers. We also managed to win the last match, which was obviously pleasing, but above all we were satisfied with the attitude we showed throughout the game. Now we need to understand how consistently we will be able to perform at certain levels. This is something we are curious to assess as we progress through the season, one game at a time.”
On the challenges posed by Ternana Women: “We know very well what to expect and are familiar with our opponents’ characteristics and strengths. However, we do not want to approach the game focusing on the challenges related to the environment, the size of the pitch or the artificial surface. We have never used these factors as excuses or alibis. We know it will be a difficult game, also because it is the first match of the season, and the opening games are challenging for everyone. Last season, Ternana built a large part of their fight for survival through their home games, also thanks to the work of their coach Mauro Ardizzone, who did an excellent job. The team has changed, with important players joining and a new coach coming in. We will have to play our own game, knowing that it could be a physical and challenging match. In that context, we will need to find the strength and composure to play our football.”
