The match between Como Women and Milan, valid for matchday six of the Serie A Women Athora, was played at the Ferruccio Stadium in Seregno. Stefano Sottili’s team defeated Milan 1–0 thanks to a penalty scored by Nadine Nischler.

First Half

The first half opens with two big opportunities for Como Women, both falling to Kerr, who finds herself twice one-on-one with Giuliani: on the first chance she is flagged offside, while on the second her right-footed effort from the center of the box goes wide to the left. In the 15th minute, the Lariane create another important chance through Pavan, who attempts a right-footed shot from the middle of the area, but Giuliani does well to deny her. Milan respond in the 23rd minute with a left-footed strike from Cernoia from outside the box, but the central effort is comfortably saved by Gilardi. Como Women threaten again in the 29th minute from a corner kick: Howard rises above everyone with an acrobatic effort, but her first-time shot flies over the crossbar.

In the 44th minute, Milan coach Suzanne Bakker calls for a VAR review for a possible handball in the box by Cecotti. After checking the monitor, the referee awards a penalty to the Rossonere. Ijeh steps up to take it but sends the ball over the bar, leaving the score unchanged. The teams head into the break locked at 0–0.

Second Half

Como Women start the second half with determination, and within seconds Kramzar tries her luck from distance, but Giuliani makes a routine save. In the 50th minute the Lariane threaten again: Nischler breaks down the left and delivers a low cross for Kerr, who gets ahead of the Milan defense at the near post but cannot apply the decisive touch. Two minutes later, Milan respond with a long-range strike from Kyvag, well saved by Gilardi.

In the 60th minute, Marcussen wins a penalty in the box. Nischler steps up, but her shot hits the corner of the woodwork, wasting a huge chance to break the deadlock. Milan nearly score in the 69th minute with a header from Mascarello that goes just wide of the right post following a cross from Dompig. The Rossonere come close again in the 81st minute with Grimshaw, whose shot from distance misses the target by a few inches.

Como Women immediately reply: one minute later Lehmann, newly on the pitch, forces Giuliani into a save with a right-footed strike from the edge of the box. The turning point arrives in the 84th minute, when Bernardi breaks away on the counter and, one-on-one with Giuliani, is brought down in the box by Keijzer. The Milan defender is shown a straight red card and the referee awards Como their second penalty of the match. This time, at the 90th minute, Nischler makes no mistake—sending Giuliani the wrong way and giving Como Women a 1–0 lead. It is the fifth league goal in six matches for the midfielder from South Tyrol.

In stoppage time, Lehmann comes close to doubling the lead with a right-footed effort from the center of the area, but the Milan defense blocks it. In the final minutes, Grimshaw tries again from distance, but her shot is once more deflected by the Como back line. After Milan’s last attempts, the match ends with a 1–0 victory for Como Women, who overcome the Rossonere and secure three precious points.

Como Women thus claim their third win in a row, moving up to 12 points in the standings and taking temporary first place as they wait for the derby between Roma and Lazio. The next match for Sottili’s team will be on Sunday the 23rd at 12:30 p.m. against Roma, again at the Ferruccio Stadium in Seregno.
