Photo Credits: Como WomenOn matchday three of the Primavera 2 Championship, Group A, Como Women’s U19 side secured a thrilling comeback victory, beating Moncalieri 3-2 in a rollercoaster of a match. Marco Dessì’s team came from behind to claim all three points thanks to goals from Perin, De Angelis and Ursillo.
Como Women took the lead in the 26th minute. Perin found herself one-on-one with the opposing goalkeeper and calmly rounded her, putting the hosts 1-0 up. After the break, however, Moncalieri turned the game around within a few minutes. The visitors equalised in the 54th minute before scoring again in the 59th to make it 2-1.
Como Women’s response was immediate. Just two minutes later, in the 60th minute, De Angelis restored parity, making it 2-2. The hosts continued to push forward and, in the 84th minute, the decisive goal arrived through their captain. Ursillo produced a precise curling effort that beat the opposing goalkeeper and completed the comeback, making it 3-2, which proved to be the final score.
After the match, Como Women head coach Marco Dessì commented: “I can only be satisfied with the girls’ attitude. They are showing what we are asking of them, and the work we do during the week is becoming evident on the pitch. We are in the middle of a process and we have to look at it that way: there may be matches in which the result does not go our way, but for us, the performance comes before the result. That is the principle we have been working on since the beginning of the season.”
Dessì was also pleased with the team’s reaction after a difficult start to the second half: “It wasn’t easy to react after conceding two goals so quickly, but the girls showed that they were always fully involved in the game. This is also the result of the work we do every day in training, which they have now started to consolidate. We have been working together for around two months, with a new coaching staff and many new demands. The girls are taking everything on board in the right way, but we also have to give them the necessary time to absorb the new principles. We are talking about players aged 16, 17 and 18, and their development takes time.”
Finally, Dessì looked ahead to the rest of the season: “Winning feels good, and results certainly help us work with greater enthusiasm, but the season is still a long way from over. Our objective is to improve the quality of our play, giving the players more and more knowledge and principles so that they can express themselves at their best and raise their technical, personal and mental levels. That is the work we are doing. Results are important, but the environment must always remain calm and positive.”
Thanks to this victory, Como Women’s U19 side move up to seven points and go top of Group A, temporarily on their own, with Lumezzane still to play their match tomorrow away to Vicenza.
Marco Dessì’s team will return to action on the weekend of October 17, when they travel to face Venezia.
