Serie A Women Athora, pre-match statements ahead of Como Women-Inter
Ahead of the match against Inter, scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday 4 October, at 6:00 PM at the “Mino Favini” Stadium in Meda and valid for the second matchday of Serie A Women Athora, Como Women assistant coach Davide Borin previewed the game against the Nerazzurre.
“We are certainly facing a good team, strong in every department, but we have to continue working as we have since the beginning of the season, focusing on our own path. The game in Terni gave us positive answers. Rather than looking at them and focusing on their strengths, we have to concentrate on what we need to do. We have worked well during the week, and the girls have shown great commitment and availability. We therefore need to focus on how to approach the game and on how we can put our opponents under pressure, because they also have weaknesses.”
On the approach to the game: “It will be important to manage the different phases of the match. There will certainly be moments when we have to suffer, as happened against Ternana, but on that occasion we were good at managing those situations and reacting to them. We will have to do the same tomorrow. We are calm and positive, and we believe we can put in a very good performance. We can win, lose or draw, but I am quite convinced that the girls will deliver a good performance, including those who come on from the bench.”
On the areas for improvement and the team’s development: “During the week, beyond the excellent result and performance in Terni, we continued to work on the areas we need to improve. We are constantly working, trying to build things one step at a time. It is a long and challenging league. We will continue to take it one game at a time, and then around January we will see where we are, what we have achieved and what we have built. At that point, we can assess our progress and understand how far we can go. For now, we need to focus on working with this spirit and this positive energy, trying to spend as much time together as possible, both on and off the pitch. I believe that is the most important thing to maintain the positivity that is already present within the group, and that can also help us pick up a few more points over the course of the season.”
